Description

Rutherford Regional Health System's partnership with Duke LifePoint Healthcare aims to transform healthcare in Rutherford County. Duke LifePoint Healthcare is a joint venture of Duke University Health System and LifePoint Health, combining clinical excellence with extensive resources and community hospital expertise.

As an RN in the Emergency Department, you will provide professional nursing care to a group of assigned patients, collaborate with medical staff and healthcare team members, and perform activities in accordance with policies and guidelines. You will supervise and delegate duties to ancillary personnel.

Essential Functions

• Perform triage, recognize critical presentations (e.g., stroke, chest pain), and use green/red bags.
• Conduct medication reconciliation and understand medication management.
• Initiate IVs and collect blood samples.
• Identify and address patient/family needs and responses to interventions, regularly assessing and documenting.
• Initiate discharge planning with an interdisciplinary approach.
• Provide patient and family education regarding hospitalization, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Use safe medication practices, document outcomes, and complete medication reconciliation.
• Assist with orientation and training of staff as directed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and stress management.

Certifications: BLS, ACLS (within 3 months), PALS (within 3 months), Handle with care (within 4 months).

Licenses: Current RN license in NC or multi-state (compact).

Work Experience: 1-3 years, with recent acute care experience preferred.
