Job summary

The Cleveland Clinic Lakewood Family Health Center is seeking an experienced RN for the Emergency Department (ED) to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care overnight. You will assess patients, implement care plans, administer meds, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment open 24/7.

Qualified applicants will hold an RN license (ADN or BSN) and BLS/ACLS; ENPC and PALS are preferred or required after hire, with opportunities for loan repayment, tuition

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Current state RN license.
• One year of acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• ENPC required upon hire or within 24 months.
• PALS within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Evaluate and revise plans of care to meet outcomes.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and families with educational materials considering cultural issues.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per protocol.

As an RN in the Emergency Department (ED), you will help patients feel comfortable, at ease and supported while receiving treatment. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life‑saving treatment.

Typical Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC – pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work – exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
