Job summary

Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, AK is seeking an Emergency Department Charge Nurse for full-time, day shift. You will work with the Nursing Director to provide leadership, identify education needs, and plan ED staff education while guiding performance evaluations and competencies.

You will be assigned direct patient care duties and allocated admin time for leadership duties. Two years of staff nurse experience in the unit are required, and ACLS is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing is required.
• 3 years ER nursing experience is required.
• Alaska RN license is required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; ENPC substitution allowed for PALS.
• CEN certification within 6 months of employment.
• TNCC required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and support in the ED alongside the Nursing Director.
• Identify education needs and plan educational offerings for ED staff.
• Contribute to performance evaluations and competency assessments of ED nurses.
• Direct patient care duties while using administrative time to fulfill leadership responsibilities.

Emergency

Full Time , Day , Will need to follow Nursing contract. every other weekend. Day shift mainly

POSITION SUMMARY:

TheEmergency Department Charge Nurse works closely with the Nursing Director to provide overall leadership and support and acts as a resource to the Emergency Department nursing staff. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse assists in identifying the education needs of individual staff members and/or the ED staff and nursing staff as a whole and assists in planning of educational offerings. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse provides input for performance evaluations and competencies of the ED nursing staff and collaborates with the Nursing Director to improve the overall performance of the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse is assigned to direct patient care and will utilize administrative time during each pay period to accomplish leadershipresponsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate's degree in Nursing
• 3 years of Nursing - Emergency Room experience
• State of Alaska RN Licensure
• BLSP (CPR), ACLS from the American Heart Association
• PALS from the American Heart Association within 6 months of employment (ENPC may be substituted for PALS)
• Certified Emergency Nurse from the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursingwithin 6 months of employment
• Trauma Nursing Core Course from the Emergency Nursing Association within 6 months of employment

According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement 4.2.1 all charge nurse roles at CPH require two years of experience in a staff nurse role, one of which must be at CPH. ACLS is also required. Also, the charge nurse must have been oriented to the charge nurse role and responsiblitie of the unit(s) they are assigned.
