Job summary

LCMC Health in Metairie, LA seeks an ER Nurse who embraces compassionate, high‑quality care in a fast-paced ER setting.

You will coordinate care touchpoints, ensure patient safety, and advocate for patients and families across shifts. Louisiana RN license and key ER certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI, TNCC, ENPC) are required or expected to be obtained within specified timelines.

Qualifications

  • ER nursing experience preferred.
  • Emergency Room nursing knowledge beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, coordinate and delegate all care touchpoints for patients.
  • Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
  • Monitor and engage with patients, families and care team members during significant events or condition changes.
  • Prevent and treat wounds.
  • Ensure infection control and environment of care requirements are followed.
  • Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput and clear communication for every patient.
  • Consult with supervisor when unable to complete tasks promptly or safely.
  • Educate patients and families using appropriate resources and services.
  • Address patient questions and concerns.
  • Support the team by assisting others without being asked.

Your Everyday
  • Prioritize, coordinate and delegate all care touchpoints for your patients.
  • Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
  • Monitor and engage with patients, families, and appropriate care team members concerning significant events or patient condition changes.
  • Prevent and treat wounds.
  • Monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
  • Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
  • Advise and consult with supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
  • Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and care services.
  • Address patient questions and concerns.
  • Contribute to the team by assistingothers without being asked.
The Must-Haves
Minimum
  • Current nursing license to practice in the state of Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS, CPI and PALS certifications. (New grad must obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • Current TNCC (CHNLA and UMC ERs only)
  • ENPC (can be substitute for PALS at UMC or EJMC ERs)
Preferred
  • Emergency Room experience and ER nursing knowledge
