Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department at Coastal Carolina Medical Center and Tidewatch FSED in Hardeeville, SC. You will deliver high-quality, life‑saving care to patients from pediatrics to geriatrics in a fast-paced ED.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; BSN or Nursing degree preferred.
• Current RN licensure in the appropriate state.
• One year of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid, systematic triage to determine acuity and prioritize life-threatening conditions.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments across the lifespan with vitals, history, and exam.
• Recognize and report critical changes in patient status to physician/APN.
• Collaborate with physicians, paramedics, specialists and other units as a core team member.
• Provide clear handoffs during transfers and shift changes to care teams.
• Offer emotional support to patients and families during high-stress situations.
• Advocate for patients ensuring their rights and preferences guide care decisions.

Facility: Coastal Carolina Medical Center and Tidewatch FSED | Department: Emergency Room | Location: Hardeeville, SC | Work Schedule: varies, PRN

What You'll Do

• Perform rapid, systematic patient triageto quickly determine patient acuity and prioritize life-threatening conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing patient assessments,including physical examination,vital sign monitoring,and detailed history collection,for patients across the lifespan (pediatric to geriatric).
• Promptly recognize and report critical changes in patient status to the appropriate physician or advanced practice provider.
• ollaborateeffectively as a core member of the interdisciplinary team, coordinating with physicians, paramedics, specialists, and other hospital units (e.g., ICU, OR, Inpatient).
• Provide clear, concise, and accurate handoff communication during patient transfers, shift changes, and between care teams.
• Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during high-stress, crisis, and traumatic situations.
• Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights are respected and care decisions reflect the patient's best interests and wishes.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course, preferred.
• Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
