Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in New Mexico is seeking an Emergency Room Registered Nurse who will use the nursing process to provide direct, compassionate care to patients with acute illness, injury, or medical emergencies. You will rapidly assess, triage, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum ADN preparation
  • Current New Mexico RN license or eligibility through a Compact State RN license
  • BLS (required for all RN roles)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care as a clinical resource and delegate assignments based on patient acuity and staff competency.
  • Provide direct emergency care, evaluate outcomes, and collaborate with providers to adjust care as needed.
  • Coordinate care with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely, effective treatment.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain knowledge of evidence-based practice, emergency protocols, and hospital policies.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with emergency department equipment and clinical technology.
  • Communicate effectively, support teamwork, and contribute to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Use strong triage, prioritization, and critical thinking skills to manage high-acuity situations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

As an Emergency Room Registered Nurse, you will utilize the nursing process to provide direct, compassionate care to patients experiencing acute illness, injury, or medical emergencies. This role is responsible for rapidly assessing and prioritizing patient needs, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality, evidence-based care while utilizing resources efficiently and adhering to established clinical standards.
