Job summary

MercyOne is seeking an RN Educator to provide diabetes education and counseling to clients at the Waterloo Medical Center as appropriate. You will assist with the development of services and adhere to MercyOne's mission and values while delivering patient-centered education.

The role requires an Iowa RN license, with IBCLC and BLS preferred, and emphasizes collaboration with clinicians to improve outcomes in endocrine care and diabetes management.

Qualifications

• RN license in Iowa required; IBCLC preferred; BLS.
• Associate degree in nursing; bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience in maternal-child nursing and patient education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, teaching and follow-up instruction to program participants.
• Receive referrals from patient, physician or patient care staff.
• Provide educational assistance and emotional support to clients.
• Document education for inpatients in medical records.
• Collaborate with physicians regarding education and follow-up.
• Develop plan of care based on identified concerns.
• Coordinate follow-up services in person or by phone.
• Update educational materials and curriculum.

Education

Associate Degree: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Bachelor's Degree: preferred

Current Iowa RN license or licensure/certification in field of study. IBCLC certification preferred. BLS.
