Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo Endocrinology Care is seeking an RN Educator to provide diabetes education and counseling, develop education programs, and support maternal/child nursing initiatives at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.

The role emphasizes assessment, patient instruction, and collaboration with physicians to improve patient outcomes and care quality across multiple clinics in Northeast Iowa.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor's degree: preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license or licensure/certification in field of study.
• IBCLC certification preferred.
• BLS.
• Mandatory Reporter
• 0 – 2 years - Minimum of 2 years maternal child nursing experience; patient education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides assessment, teaching and follow-up instruction to program participants in individual and group settings.
• Receives referrals from patient, physician or patient care staff.
• Receives and returns calls from clients to provide educational assistance and emotional support.
• Documents education provided for inpatients on patient medical records.
• Facilitates ongoing development of services and reviews patient satisfaction data.
• Coordinates follow-up services and communicates with physicians regarding education and next visits.
• Develops and updates educational materials/curriculum.
