Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an RN – Nursing Professional Development (NPD) 2 to lead nursing education initiatives and advance clinical competency. The role collaborates with leadership and the Education Department to design programs, facilitate learning, and promote evidence-based practice across clinical settings.

The NPD 2 will act as a clinical expert and learning facilitator, developing curricula, coordinating onboarding, and driving competency strategies to improve patient outcomes and staff

Qualifications

• Master's degrees in nursing, leadership or education.
• ANCC Specialty certification required within 6 months of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program completion may be required depending on area of service.
• Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) accepted in lieu of a Kentucky Nursing License.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a role model to nursing staff in the delivery of excellent patient care.
• Collaborates with leadership to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate strategies to address complex patient care issues.
• Assists staff with clinical decision making and priority setting.
• Develops, evaluates, and implements standards of patient care and professional practice.
• Promotes culture of patient-centered care and outcomes improvement.
• Facilitates ongoing education, competency and professional development of nursing staff and students.
• Coordinates onboarding curriculum for new nursing department employees.
• Plans and maintains materials for competency-based education programs.
