Job summary

UF Health Jacksonville is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the ED Flex to deliver nursing care to patients in urgent care or emergency settings following the nursing process and professional standards. The RN will serve as charge nurse when assigned and remains accountable for assigned patients, coordinating with the care team to ensure safety and quality.

Required: Florida RN license or eNLC eligibility with FL licensure within 90 days, BLS/ACLS, and PALS/NRP within six months.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Florida RN license or be eligible under eNLC with Florida licensure within 90 days of residency.
• BSN preferred with commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
• CPR/BLS required; ACLS and PALS/NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) ED Flex provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse at all Urgent Care and/or Emergency Departments at UF Health Jacksonville. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.

Required Education

Associate�s degree in Nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position. Current employees who were hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Current licensure as RN in Florida or valid licensure in one of the states under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). If licensed under the eNLC, must obtain FL RN licensure within 90 days of becoming a Florida resident.
• BLS from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS from the American Heart Association.
• Effective July 1, 2018, PALS and NRP is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
• Existing employees are required to have the certifications by December 31, 2018.
• ED Fellowship RN's must obtain their ACLS, PALS and NRP within six (6) months of hire or transfer.

Preferred Licensure/Certifications

• CEN or TNCC preferred

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years� experience as RN in Emergency Room or ICU.

Preferred Experience

5 or more years� experience of Emergency Room RN
