UF Health Jacksonville is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the ED Flex role to deliver nursing care in urgent care and/or emergency department settings. You will practice using the nursing process and assume charge nurse responsibilities when assigned.
The role requires Florida RN licensure or eNLC with FL licensure within 90 days, BLS/ACLS, and PALS/NRP within six months. 2+ years in ER/ICU is preferred, with 5+ years in ER preferred.
The Registered Nurse (RN) ED Flex provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse at all Urgent Care and/or Emergency Departments at UF Health Jacksonville. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.
Required Education::Associate’s degree in Nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position. Current employees who were hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.
Preferred Education::BSN
Necessary Skills::1. Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team.2. Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
Required Licensure/Certifications::Current licensure as RN in Florida or valid licensure in one of the states under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). If licensed under the eNLC, must obtain FL RN licensure within 90 days of becoming a Florida resident.
BLS from the American Heart Association.
ACLS from the American Heart Association.
Effective July 1, 2018, PALS and NRP is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Existing employees are required to have the certifications by December 31, 2018.
ED Fellowship RN's must obtain their ACLS, PALS and NRP within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
Preferred Licensure/Certifications::CEN or TNCC preferred
Required Experience::Minimum 2 years of experience as RN in Emergency Room or ICU.
Preferred Experience::5 or more years of experience of Emergency Room
