Job summary

Clinical Management Consultants is seeking an exceptional Director of Emergency Services to lead one of the nation’s busiest Emergency Departments. This high-impact leadership role oversees a 54-bed department with 24/7 operations and an annual volume of over 95,000 patients.

The Director will manage staffing, throughput, quality, regulatory readiness, budgets, and patient experience, mentoring nurses and partnering with physicians to drive safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• At least five years of progressive Emergency Department leadership experience in a medium-to-large, high-volume setting.
• BSN is required; MSN or MHA preferred.
• CEN, CPEN, NE-BC, or NEA-BC certification is a plus.
• Experience with Epic EMR and operational implementations is valued.
• Strong focus on staffing, throughput, quality, regulatory readiness, and patient experience.

Job description

An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced Director of Emergency Services to lead one of the nation’s busiest Emergency Departments. This high-impact leadership role offers the chance to guide a high-acuity department with an annual volume of more than 95,000 patients and a strong reputation for clinical excellence.

The Emergency Department Director will oversee 24/7 operations within a 54-bed department serving both adult and pediatric patients. Daily census can reach 180-270 patients. The department manages everything from minor injuries to respiratory failure and STEMI cases. It also includes a dedicated Behavioral Health Observation Unit and follows a strong culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.

This leader will oversee staffing, throughput, quality, regulatory readiness, budgets, and patient experience. The Director will work closely with physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to improve operations and support safe patient care. Mentoring nurses and strengthening clinical education will also be key priorities.

The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of progressive Emergency Department leadership experience in a medium-to-large, high-volume setting. A BSN is required with an MSN or MHA preferred. CEN, CPEN, NE-BC, or NEA-BC certification is a plus. Experience with Epic, department redesign, construction phasing, or operational implementation is also highly valued.
