The role you’ll contribute:

The Database Coordinator for Surgical Services integrates nursing science, computer science and information science to identify, acquire, preserve, manage, retrieve, aggregate, analyze and transmit data, information and knowledge making it meaningful and useful to clinical practice, administration, education, research, and the expansion of nursing and other clinical knowledge. This includes the evaluation of applications, tools, processes, and structures which assist clinicians with the management of data in taking care of patients or in supporting the clinical practice for Surgical Services. The Database Coordinator works collaboratively with users of clinical information systems from Surgical Services, with various departments in the Information Systems division as necessary, and in problem-solving issues related to clinical information systems for Surgical Services. To facilitate, coordinate, and support nursing computerized documentation within Surgical Services, Endoscopy, PAT, PACU and Central Sterile. This Database Coordinator also helps coordinate aspects of planning, design, development, training, implementation, communication, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionality related to clinical information systems for Surgical Services. This person acts as a liaison between clinicians, IS technicians and analysts, and system vendors to develop and implement information systems that support clinical practice for the Surgical Division. The individual will also support other roles as needed to promote a smooth functioning Surgical Services Department.

• Maintains policies and procedures related to clinical information systems for Surgical Services.
• Assists with charge issues related to supply pick list charges.
• Reviews all custom programming and enhancement requests that are submitted by the clinical departments of Surgical Services for appropriateness and completeness to determine appropriate action.
• Assists in OR Chart Audit during any down time in Data Base responsibilities.

Qualifications:

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• Bachelors and 5+ years experience
• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
• 3-5 years' experience with information systems or related role in an acute care hospital setting
