Adventist Health Twin Cities in Templeton, CA is seeking an RN for the ICU night shift (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). The role features 36 hours per week for a 13-week assignment, with ACLS and BLS preferred.

The nurse will assess and coordinate care for ICU patients and participate in critical care activities as part of a CNA-represented team. Qualified candidates have graduated from a nursing program, hold or obtain a CA RN license, and maintain BLS.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a nursing program, eligible for RN licensure in California.
  • Current BLS certification, ACLS preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Active RN license in state of practice required.
  • ACLS certification (or ARC-ALS) for ICU work is required or to be completed soon.
  • Familiarity with ICU patient care and teamwork in a fast-paced unit.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for ICU patients.
  • Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care in collaboration with the health team.
  • Adhere to nursing standards and protect patient privacy and safety.
  • Document clearly and participate in quality monitors as directed.
  • Respond to emergencies and maintain competencies in Code Blue and other alarms.

Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, Adventist Health Twin Cities has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, our team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical and outpatient services. Job Summary

Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients.

Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care.

Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the health care team.

Job Requirements
  • Education and Work Experience: Graduate of a school of nursing: Required
  • One-year recent acute care RN experience in an operating room: Required
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
  • Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required
Essential Functions
  • Assures patients personal needs are met.
  • Assist in reducing noise level of nursing unit.
  • Shows a commitment to co-workers.
  • Works as a team to assure all patients have their needs met.
  • Maintains patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy.
  • Documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Delivers a clear, concise report.
  • Completes all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager.
  • Follows infection control guidelines.
  • Obtains history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups.
  • Reviews medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data.
  • Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to appropriate person.
  • Provides information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, and to the appropriate personnel.
  • Recognizes sings and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations.
  • Accurately administers and charts medications according to hospital policies and procedures using patient's 6 rights.
  • Implements and /or assists others in implementation and documentation of planned education.
  • Assesses patient's educational needs.
  • Assist in the development and education of new staff members.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Completes education, training, and competencies for department specific skills.
  • Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and work flow.
  • Assures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly.
  • Utilizes department resources appropriately.
  • Minimizes incidental overtime.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
