St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center, part of Catholic Health Services, seeks a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool on a part-time basis. New two-week orientation (Monday–Friday) is required.

  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops, implements, and evaluates care plans.
  • Monitors patient conditions, interprets vital signs and diagnostics, and responds to changes in status.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and interventions per hospital policies and evidence-based practices.
  • Coordinates a patient-focused team to provide direct and collaborative care across units.
  • Applies the nursing process with attention to cultural and religious needs and patient rights.
  • Utilizes case management knowledge to provide comprehensive, coordinated care.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the patient/provider relationship across settings.

The Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across multiple critical care areas, including the Medical ICU (MICU), Surgical ICU (SICU) Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU). This role requires advanced clinical skills, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity environments. The Critical Care Float Pool RN supports staffing needs across units while maintaining excellence in patient care, safety, and collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers direct patient care to critically ill and high-acuity patients in the critical care units.
  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans.
  • Monitors patient conditions, interprets vital signs and diagnostic data, and responds appropriately to changes in status.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with hospital policies and evidence-based practices.
  • Coordinates a patient-focused team in providing direct and collaborative health care in a variety of clinical settings designed to promote and restore optimal health across the life span.
  • Utilizes all components of the nursing process in providing care that reflects an understanding of individual cultural and religious diversities and needs, and recognition of patient rights.
  • Utilizes knowledge and expertise in case management to provide comprehensive, coordinated, seamless care to individuals and aggregate groups.
  • Coordinates, integrates and facilitates the patient/provider relationship.
  • Floats between units based on patient care needs and staffing requirements.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current New York State RN License required.
  • BLS, ACLS -American Heart Association.
  • Minimum 2 years’ nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Ability to operate all equipment and EMR systems found in care center as necessary to perform all prescribed duties.
  • Ability to handle information with strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Salary Range

USD $58.16 - USD $83.99 /Hr.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
