Job summary

KidsPeace is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for an evening/night shift in a crisis care setting in North Carolina. The role involves direct nursing care, medication administration, care planning, and monitoring clients’ physical and behavioral health.

You’ll work to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment and may supervise LPNs. Candidates must have NC RN licensure, a willingness to complete required trainings, and pass clearances.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and NC RN licensure required.
  • One year nursing experience preferred.
  • Attend 12 hours of Person-Centered Thinking training within 90 days of hire.
  • Pass criminal history, child abuse clearances, and other required clearance; valid driver’s license.
  • LSCI, SCM, and Ukeru training as appropriate for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care based on individual client needs and goals.
  • Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of client care plans.
  • Monitor and report changes in client condition to clinical staff.
  • Maintain safe, therapeutic environment; promote dignity and well-being.
  • Assist with ADLs to promote independence; supervise LPNs if needed.
  • Participate in restraint interventions as ordered by licensed professionals.

Position Overview

Provides direct nursing care to clients based on individual needs, assists with care planning, and monitors clients' physical and behavioral health. Reports changes in condition to appropriate clinical staff, administers medications as prescribed, and documents client care. Supports a safe and therapeutic environment, assists with activities of daily living while promoting independence, and may supervise LPNs. Participates in approved restraint interventions when necessary and performs additional duties as assigned by nursing leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care based on each client's individual needs and treatment goals.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of client care plans.
  • Monitor and assess clients' behavioral and physical status, promptly reporting any significant changes to the Licensed Clinician, Director of Nursing (DON), and/or Physician.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment that promotes client dignity, rights, and well-being.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), encouraging independence and self-sufficiency whenever appropriate.
  • May provide supervision and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) during assigned shifts.
  • Participate in the implementation and monitoring of restraint interventions, when ordered by a licensed professional, utilizing the approved KidsPeace restraint methodology. This may involve working with youth who weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who demonstrate verbal or physical aggression or otherwise present a risk of harm to themselves or others.
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and monitor, document, and report any adverse reactions or side effects.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client care, observations, and interventions.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing and organizational leadership.
Qualifications
  • A graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and current North Carolina RN Licensure is required.
