Job summary

Advanced Correctional Healthcare in Sangamon County Jail, IL, seeks a registered nurse for PRN coverage. You will provide nursing care, administer medications, perform vital signs monitoring, and coordinate care within correctional health services.

Requirements include an active RN license in Illinois, BLS certification, strong documentation, and knowledge of RN scope of practice. This role offers diverse shifts and opportunities to impact inmate health and safety.

Qualifications

Active nursing license in the state where services are provided.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training.
Excellent documentation skills.
Knowledge of the RN scope of practice.

Responsibilities

Timely and accurately assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients.
Contact practitioner to obtain orders.
Administer prescribed medication, treatments and other tasks as ordered by the practitioner.
Provide emergency first aid care, when appropriate.
Check and record vital signs, peak flows, blood glucose checks, weight, and other diagnostic tests on-site, when appropriate.
Triage officer intake screenings for necessity and priority at sick call.
Collaborate and coordinate multiple medical services for diagnosis and treatment, as directed by the practitioner.
Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control precautions as required.
Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA practices as required by government agencies.
