Job summary

The Ambulatory Nurse at Carle Health in Champaign, IL uses assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation within the RN scope to deliver care to individuals, families and communities. Qualifications

  • BLS certification within 30 days - AHA.
  • College Diploma in Nursing.
  • Work experience in clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Documents care accurately and completely.
  • Delivers health education to individuals and groups.
  • Preceptor for new staff and students; supports development.
  • Leads quality improvement initiatives.
  • Administers medications (IM, PO, rectal, IV, SQ, inhaled).
  • Performs procedures such as wound care, IV starts, EKG, and other tests.
  • Assists with procedures and supports providers.
  • Acts as resource nurse and participates in code team.
  • Rooms patients and conducts triage, vital signs, and med reconciliation.
  • Provides patient education.

Overview

The Ambulatory Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the practice of nursing. Provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.

Qualifications
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • College Diploma: Nursing
  • Work Experience: relevant clinical practice
Responsibilities
  • Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice.
  • Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
  • Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
  • Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
  • Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
  • Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
  • Administers medication (IM, PO, rectal, IV, SQ and inhaled).
  • Performs procedures such as ear washes, nebulizer treatments, peak flows, splint applications, crutch training, wound care, point‑of‑care testing, IV starts and therapy, vision screenings, EKG, catheterizations and suture/staple removal.
  • Assists providers with procedures such as vaginal exams, suture and staple placement, and incision and drainage.
  • Member of the Code Team.
  • Resource Nurse for shifts.
  • Serves as preceptor for new employees.
  • Telephone triage and work in basket.
  • Rooming patients, including obtaining vital signs, medication reconciliation, chief complaint, etc.
  • Performs patient education.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $34.02 per hour - $55.36 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
