Job summary

Flying High in Youngstown, OH, is seeking an RN to lead CNA instruction and skills training, delivering long-term care knowledge to students within our CNA program. You will teach in class using prepared curriculum and oversee the external clinical experience.

Classes run weekdays between 8:30am and 2:30pm. The successful candidate will hold an active Ohio RN license with Train the Trainer certification, provide supervision during clinicals, and foster a learning environment that supports

Description

A great opportunity for an RN who wants to share their long-term care knowledge with students enrolled within the CNA program. The assistant would provide in class instruction and skills training utilizing prepared curriculum and oversee the external clinical experience. Classes run weekdays between the hours of 8:30am to 2:30pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach assigned CNA classes using effective strategies and principles of adult education.
  • Create an environment conducive to learning and student-instructor interaction.
  • Prepare students to satisfactorily demonstrate skills prior to performing with patients or residents.
  • Will provide direct supervision and observation of all student clinical experience.
  • Will develop positive relationships with students to help them become work ready and achieve their training and occupational goals.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to walk, sit, and stand in order to interact with students, personnel, management and other visitors.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee will primarily work within a classroom and office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience – Current, unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license with current Train the Trainer certification; documented 3200 hours (approximately 2 years) of nursing experience as a licensed nurse caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age. Experience may be obtained through employment in a long term care facility, home health agency or hospital providing care to chronically ill. Verification is to be provided on company letterhead and include contact’s name, title and phone number.

Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written information. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints and respond in a timely, confidential, professional manner. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, through written and oral communication, with diverse students population, peers, the community, and management. Must demonstrate the ability to work in an observation/coaching style environment.

Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role requires an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Other Qualifications – Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and organizational skills. Supervisory experience preferred.
