Job summary

LCMC Health’s East Jefferson General Hospital is seeking a nurse leader to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and efficient operations on a busy unit. You will supervise staff, coordinate staffing, uphold policies, mentor colleagues, and partner with leadership to recruit and onboard new hires while striving for patient satisfaction and measurable quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of professional nursing experience in a relevant specialty area (Medical/Surgical, Critical Care, Emergency, Perioperative, or related field).
• BSN degree and valid Louisiana nursing license.
• American Heart Association BLS-HCP certification.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily department operations under the direction of the nurse manager/director.
• Serves as a clinical and operational resource while maintaining current knowledge of best practices and departmental procedures.
• Monitors nursing documentation compliance and provides staff education to meet professional, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Develops and manages staffing schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage, skill mix, and resource utilization based on patient acuity and department needs.
• Supervises staff, including onboarding, orientation, competency validation, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Partners with leadership in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of candidates for open positions.
• Ensures compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and orientation requirements.
• Conducts environmental, safety, and patient rounds; addresses issues and promotes patient satisfaction.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives, chart audits, core measure compliance, and performance monitoring to support organizational goals.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
• Valid license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Louisiana.
• American Heart Association BLS-HCP.
