Job summary

NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities is seeking a licensed Registered Professional Nurse to independently perform a broad range of nursing duties, including assessments, care planning, and medication administration. The role requires clinical rounds, coordination with treatment teams, and health education for individuals and families.

The incumbent will supervise nursing staff, ensure compliance with regulations, and participate in program development and quality improvement

Qualifications

• Must hold a current New York State registered professional nurse license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and record health information and vitals.
• Prepare, implement, and modify nursing care plans and administer medications as prescribed.
• Monitor and document symptoms, health status, and responses to treatment.
• Serve on the treatment team and coordinate with other health care professionals.
• Conduct clinical rounds to assess nursing needs and participate in care delivery.
• Provide health teaching and education to individuals and families; develop health improvement programs.
• Implement infection control protocols and provide staff with related instruction.
• Maintain charts and documentation per agency, state, and federal requirements; support data collection for research.
• Monitor inventories to ensure medication and supplies meet needs.
• Provide clinical supervision and instruction to Graduate Nurses, LPNs, and direct care staff.
• Delegate nursing activities and liaise with outside agencies to ensure continuity of care.
