UnityPoint Health is seeking an Unit Based Educator for the Cardiac Cath Lab to coordinate orientation, education, and clinical standards across multiple labs in Des Moines. You will partner with nursing leadership to implement evidence-based care and develop staff proficiency in the cath lab environment.

The position emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and ongoing professional development to advance patient care quality and safety within a dynamic cardiovascular unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• 2 years experience in relevant clinical area.
• State RN license.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Integrates the UnityPoint Health Moines Nursing Expectations of Performance in all aspects of care delivery and professional practice.
• Collaborates to develop, implement, and evaluate standards of evidenced based practice and policies/procedures related to care.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical orientation for nursing, techs and other staff.
• Supports the clinical preceptor for effective clinical education of staff.
• Assesses educational needs of staff and identifies learning needs.
• Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of in services and continuing education offerings for clinical staff.
• Serves as a resource to clinical staff involved in patient care in the specific area of clinical expertise.
• Maintains awareness of evidence based nursing and research in the clinical area.

Overview

The Cath Labs consist of 5 labs and 17 recovery bays at Methodist and 2 labs and 7 recovery bays at Lutheran.The cath labs act in accordance with the DNV Primary Center guidelines and educational requirements therein. The Unit Based Educator collaborates with nursing leadership and education professionals to coordinate, influence, and assist with the implementation of patient care and related care activities at the unit level. Assesses, develops and implements orientation and education programs for department staff to positively impact the quality of patient care.
