Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Quality Documentation Specialist I to enhance the completeness and accuracy of quality data through collaboration with physicians, nurses, and quality committees. You will drive changes in documentation practices to reflect true patient characteristics in the medical record and support outcome measures.

Responsibilities include rounds with physicians, data review, education, and contributing to performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with IL license
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing
• Minimum 2 years bedside nursing experience with clinical quality/patient safety initiatives
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; leadership ability; analytical ability
• Willingness to learn computer applications and engage in change management processes

Responsibilities

• Maintain relationships with leadership to advance quality metrics
• Rounds daily with physicians and APPs to ensure accurate documentation
• Collaborate to improve communication and education for physicians
• Perform daily medical record reviews and data collection for quality improvement
• Analyze quality data to identify patterns in patient care outcomes
• Contribute to safety culture and share improvements with committees
• Present updates to leadership and interdisciplinary quality groups
• Support documentation accuracy for reporting patient diagnoses and treatments
• Participate in clinical documentation education and committee work
