Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Quality Documentation Specialist I in Illinois. This full-time role requires RN licensure, a nursing degree, and at least two years of bedside nursing with involvement in quality or patient safety initiatives.

You will drive accurate documentation, collaborate with physicians and leadership, and participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance care outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse in Illinois.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing.
• Minimum 2 years of bedside nursing care with evidence of participation in clinical quality or patient safety initiatives and change management skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict management, diplomacy and negotiation skills.
• Proven leadership to affect positive clinical quality outcomes.
• Analytical skills to independently collect, analyze and interpret clinical data.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain integrated relationships with Clinical Documentation Leadership and medical directors to advance quality metrics.
• Rounds daily with physicians and APPs to ensure accurate documentation in the medical record.
• Partner with leadership to develop and implement education to engage physicians and improve processes.
• Perform daily medical record reviews and data collection to identify documentation and quality issues.
• Understand national quality metrics and assist with strategy to improve documentation and reporting.
• Participate in NM Clinical Documentation committees and other departmental initiatives.
