Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse Supervisor, RN for its 36-bed post-surgical unit in New Hampshire. The role oversees patient assignments, supports direct patient care, and leads staff with a focus on throughput, safety, and quality.

Requirements include an accredited nursing program graduate, BSN at hire, 2 years acute care experience, and NH RN licensure with BLS. The position offers day shifts with no nights/weekends/holidays and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program.
• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing (BSN) at time of hire.
• 2 years of progressive responsibility within an acute care setting.
• Specialty certification preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain clinical competencies within assigned unit.
• Excellent written, verbal and computer skills required.
• Demonstrated abilities with problem solving, leadership, communication, fiscal responsibility and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates and assist with operations by functioning as the first line supervisor to staff.
• Participates in performance management of staff members to including coaching, preparation of performance evaluations, and the performance management process. Initiates disciplinary action as appropriate.
• Works with the staff to facilitate patient flow and to optimize clinical capacity. Determines when and how to flex staff schedules to provide clinical coverage.
• Facilitates timely throughput to optimize clinical capacity within the organization.
• Performs service recovery to promote patient and employee retention. Responds to staff and patient/family needs.
• Addresses conflicts as they may arise. Assists/mediates discussions to maintain smooth operations.
• Participates in institutional Quality and Patient Safety improvement initiatives, committees and projects.
• Develops, plans, and coordinates the implementation and evaluation of orientation for new staff. Collaborates with the rest of the leadership team to assess and evaluate the clinical competence of department staff.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
