Job summary

Tufts Medicine seeks a Nursing Coordinator to lead the nursing team within a designated unit, ensuring safe, efficient patient care aligned with physician orders. The role supervises managers and frontline staff, guiding daily operations and long-term goals.

You will develop nursing staff through mentoring, coaching, and education, while coordinating resource use, budgets, and adherence to standards. This role emphasizes teamwork and patient-centered outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSN required and RN license.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• Five years of nursing experience with at least 1 year as charge/lead nurse.
• Certifications (ACLS, PALS) or additional state licensure relevant to the department may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assess staffing needs to provide optimal patient care within budget.
• Prioritize and triage in collaboration with nursing staff for efficient resource use.
• Mentor and coach nursing staff for professional development.
• Educate staff on department policies, procedures, and equipment.
• Support regulatory compliance and clinical care standards.
• Participate in departmental and hospital committee meetings.
• Engage in quality improvement activities.
• Maintain professional development in evidenced-based practice.
• Maintain reciprocal relations with Clinical Managers/Directors to ensure unit productivity.
• Monitor supplies and coordinate resource needs.
• Round on units and verify patient care meets needs.
• Coordinate flow of critical care patients to optimize resources.
• Act swiftly and follow hospital policies in emergencies.
• Communicate and enforce organizational policies to staff.
• Allocate resources according to budget and standards of care.
