Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Training and Epic Optimization Specialist to develop, train, and evaluate clinical training for ambulatory staff; update training materials with upgrades; collaborate with clinical providers to ensure competency with the electronic medical record.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of Epic implementation/optimization experience, plus strong PC proficiency and knowledge of EpicCare modules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 3–5 years of experience with implementation and/or optimization of clinical documentation and ordering in Epic.
• Working knowledge of major Epic modules and workflows at UT Southwestern (EpicCare Inpatient, ASAP, OpTime, Beacon, Phoenix, Stork, EpicCare Ambulatory and Anesthesia).
• PC proficiency including Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of Epic order sets.
• Manage Epic optimization projects for quality & safety across clinical areas.
• Collaborate with care providers on new workflows and education/tip sheets in the EHR.
• Participate in EMR governance meetings and represent quality perspective.
• Identify opportunities for more effective clinical decision support and workflow improvements.
• Work with Quality and Safety staff on reporting, registries, and medication safety.
• Maintain focus on patient safety and EMR reporting capabilities.
• Maintain strong EMR process knowledge and literature awareness.
• Engage with staff groups to integrate ideas and concerns.
• Communicate progress of EMR initiatives regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
