Job summary

Mercy Hospital Washington seeks an experienced RN Clinical Nurse Educator to lead educational initiatives for the Surgical & Orthopedic Care Unit. The role focuses on onboarding, competency validation, mentorship, and evidence-based practice to enhance patient safety and nursing excellence.

You will develop curricula, coordinate schedules, and partner with leadership to address performance gaps while supporting residency programs and academic partnerships.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred with 2+ years of clinical nursing experience or ADN with 10 years in hospital nursing; RN license required.
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based practice and HIPAA regulations.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement onboarding, orientation, competency, and continuing education programs for licensed and unlicensed coworkers.
• Create curricula aligned with Mercy's Nursing Professional Practice Model and organizational goals.
• Coordinate orientation schedules and maintain education records.
• Utilize adult learning principles through simulation, case studies, and in-person or virtual learning.
• Mentor, precept, and coach nursing staff; lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Educate staff on EMR systems, learning management systems, Microsoft Office, and care technologies.
