Job summary

Detroit Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Coordinator, Observation for a nursing job in Detroit, Michigan. The Clinical Coordinator oversees staffing, assigns and schedules staff, and guides patient care delivery on the unit, while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to problem-solve and improve outcomes.

This position supports leadership and staff development on the night shift.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree/Diploma required; BSN preferred.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by the state of Michigan.
• 1–2 years of progressively more responsible experience with leadership abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and delegate.
• Minimum Level 6 of the Promoting Excellence Performance Criteria, preferred for internal candidates.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as lead and resource person for nursing personnel; acts as clinical resource and assists manager in staff meetings and development.
• Collaborates with manager to monitor the schedule and ensure adequate nurse-patient ratio each shift.
• Facilitates shared decision making and improves unit throughput to reduce length of stay.
• Coordinates in-service programs to maintain or enhance staff competence.
• May assist with staff interviews, retention, mentoring, and evaluation.
• Participates in development of policies, procedures and department standards.
• Assists with department process improvement and peer review.
