We are looking for a passionate, experienced nurse to fill one (1) full-time Registered Nurse, Supervising vacancy in County of Santa Barbara Health.We have one (1) opening on the Primary Care and Family Health (PCFH) team at the Franklin Health Center in Santa Barbara. The County classification title is Staff Nurse, Supervising.

CSR 1414 (Leave of Absence): This recruitment is to fill a Regular position, but the eligible list may be used to fill future positions vacated as a result of a leave of absence (CSR 1414) and the duration of the appointment shall be subject to the return of the individual who is on leave. A person who is appointed to a position under CSR 1414 may be able to transition into a regular position in the classification without re-application or re-testing, depending on the performance of the appointee and the needs of the department.

POSITION: Under general direction of the Clinical Nurse Administrator, directs and supervises professional and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) in the provision of direct patient care in the health centers; and performs related duties as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is a first-line supervisory classification. It is distinguished from Staff Nurse by its emphasis on providing direction and supervision as opposed to direct patient care. It is further distinguished from the Staff Nurse, Senior, by the latter classification's focus on using specialized nursing knowledge to provide nursing services to a specific targeted program or population.

Possession of a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the California State Board of Registered Nursing; AND,
Knowledge of: the principles, practices and skilled techniques of nursing; symptomology and disease processes; general nutrition; medical equipment operation; use and effects of medications and immunizations; legal environment of nursing; health education techniques and practices; interviewing and counseling techniques; community health and medical services; medical recordkeeping and privacy practices; clinic organization and operations; supervisory practices.

Bilingual – Speaking, Reading, and Writing Preferred: The ability to converse, read, and write fluently in English and Spanish is preferred. Note: You must self-certify on your application that you are fluent in English and Spanish. Hiring departments may test you on your fluency. If you do not demonstrate sufficient fluency, your name may be withheld from future certifications that require bilingual skills, in accordance with Civil Service Rules.
