Job Description

HealthPartners has an exciting opportunity for an RN Clinic Supervisor to support our Infectious Disease, Travel & Tropical Medicine, Rheumatology and IV Infusion Therapy specialties. This RN Clinic Supervisor provides leadership, direction, organization and administration of daily clinic operations in the patient care and ancillary services areas. The position works in collaboration with the Business Systems Supervisor, and service excellence is centered on patient care and relationships, a responsibility shared by all employees.

LOCATIONS: The primary location is HealthPartners 401 Specialty Center in St. Paul. Occasionally, the supervisor will travel to HealthPartners Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Riverside (Minneapolis) and West (St. Louis Park) Clinics.

Accountabilities
  • Supervision of Care Delivery Staff
    • Perform annual performance reviews
    • Review work for quality improvement purposes
    • Monitor daily staffing issues, including vacation and sick time
    • Provide feedback to ensure consistent application of HealthPartners policies and procedures
    • Promote development of staffing skill levels
    • Hire, coach, discipline, and dismiss staff as needed
    • Train and monitor job functions
    • Hold staff accountable for providing excellent patient service
  • Patient Service
    • Act as a consistent role model of Service Excellence, exemplifying courtesy, compassion, and responsiveness to all customers
    • Demonstrate that the patient is put first at every opportunity
    • Use “service” language routinely to reinforce a service-oriented mindset
    • Identify missed opportunities for better meeting customer needs and coach improvement
    • Identify training and staff development needs related to service skills
    • Hold self and employees accountable for high service standards toward all customers
    • Accept customer complaints and feedback as gifts to the organization
    • Actively listen to patients, members, and families, seeking to understand each situation from the patient’s perspective
    • Document concerns and ensure appropriate investigation and response
    • Identify trends affecting patient satisfaction and work with the local clinic or wider organization to resolve them
    • Work with staff and supervisors to identify opportunities to improve patient satisfaction, including discussion in staff meetings and setting improvement priorities
  • Quality and Data
    • Collaborate with clinic supervisors, providers, front-line staff and departmental teams to design, implement and evaluate care delivery initiatives
    • Use quality management tools and measurements to monitor standards, processes, and outcomes of care
    • Review and interpret quality management data feedback and implement appropriate changes to improve outcomes of care
    • Facilitate meetings to gather input and provide feedback on care initiatives and outcomes
    • Participate actively in creating, updating and testing business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Financial
    • Plan, develop and monitor the budget for the area of responsibility
    • Collaborate with the Manager, Chief of Professional Services and other supervisors to ensure optimal revenue capture
    • Authorize expenditures for the area of responsibility
    • Act as a responsible steward of resources, including time, materials, supplies and property
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Bachelor of Sciences or Arts degree program or health‑related field, or six years of full‑time clinical nursing experience
  • Current RN licensure in Minnesota
  • Current RN licensure in Wisconsin within two months of hire
  • Two (2) years of staff supervisory experience
  • Two (2) years of leadership/management experience with a health care team
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem‑solving, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage resources and staff with budget requirements
  • Strong written, oral, and analytical communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability
  • Customer service experience with demonstrated strength in communication skills in dealing with patient/public contacts
  • Ability to lead, mentor and motivate employees
  • Ability to understand, implement and monitor care improvement, patient service and access data and processes
