Job summary

Northwell Health in Connecticut is seeking a registered nurse to join our Medical Practice team in Norwalk. The role focuses on triage, direct patient care, and coordination with physicians and the care team to support patient exams and treatments.

Requirements include an active RN license, BLS certification within 30 days, 3 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in supervision; an associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Three years job-related experience, one-year supervisory experience required
• Five years job-related experience preferred
• Associate degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Triages and assesses patient conditions via phone or in-person consultations.
• Determines the urgency and type of care required for patients based on assessment.
• Provides medical advice and guidance based on assessments.
• Communicates with physicians, nurses and other care team members about patient statuses.
• Prepares materials, supplies, equipment, and the patient to assist the clinician with the medical exam.
• Obtains the patient's history and medical information.
• Provides direct patient care, such as ear irrigation, vaccinations, wound care, and suture removal.
• Collects and processes specimens and performs point-of-care testing.
• Instructs patients and caregivers on preventive care and medication administration.
• Contacts patients to provide follow-up and relay physician instructions.
