Job summary

Northwell Health in Norwalk, CT is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to support the NW Gastroenterology team. You will triage patients by phone or in person, support clinicians with exams, perform basic nursing duties, administer vaccines and medications, and coordinate care with physicians, nurses and staff.

Requirements include an active RN license, BLS within 30 days, and at least three years of related experience with supervisory exposure; an associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Three years job-related experience; one-year supervisory experience required.
• Five years job-related experience preferred.
• Active RN license; BLS certification within 30 days.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triages and assesses patient conditions via phone or in-person consultations.
• Determines the urgency and type of care required for patients based on assessment.
• Provides medical advice and guidance based on assessments.
• Communicates with physicians, nurses and other care team members about patient statuses.
• Prepares materials, supplies, equipment, and the patient to assist the clinician with the exam.
• Obtains patient history and medical information.
• Provides direct patient care, such as ear irrigation, vaccinations, wound care, nurse visits and suture removal.
• Collects and processes specimens and performs point of care testing.
• Instructs patients on preventive care, medications, tests, and progress monitoring.
• Contacts the patient to provide follow-up and relay instructions.
• Performs organizational responsibilities to support quality improvement and compliance.
• Maintains and models the organization’s values; demonstrates dependable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.
