Job summary

The Surgical Clinic (TSC) in Middle Tennessee is seeking an RN Circulator to provide perioperative nursing care in outpatient surgical and procedural services at Tennessee Surgery Center. You will advocate for patients, coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesia staff, and perioperative teams to ensure safe and efficient care.

Candidates must hold a Tennessee RN license, graduate from an accredited nursing program, and have current BLS; ACLS/PALS per patient population.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Tennessee.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimum of one year perioperative, procedural, or pediatric nursing experience preferred; ASC or hospital OR experience strongly preferred.
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS required or obtained based on patient population.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical/procedural workflows, and perioperative practice standards (AORN).
• Excellent critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and maintain composure in high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive, age-appropriate preoperative nursing assessments and verify consent, plan, and site.
• Prepare operating and procedure rooms by checking sterility and equipment function.
• Circulate during surgical and procedural cases, monitor sterile technique, and document care.
• Act as patient and family advocate, maintaining safety, dignity, confidentiality, and emotional support.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and intraoperative monitoring.
• Coordinate patient flow and transitions with Pre-Op, PACU, recovery, and sterile processing staff.
• Manage and process specimens according to protocols and chain-of-custody requirements.
• Respond quickly to intraoperative or procedural emergencies.
• Participate in infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Provide education, mentorship, and clinical support to staff in OR or procedural settings.
