Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington is seeking a Registered Nurse Charge for the Post Surgical Unit to oversee nursing care for post-surgical patients.

The RN will ensure high quality, safe patient care, comply with Joint Commission and state standards, and coordinate care for ages 2 to geriatric. This is a full-time night-shift position at our Arlington campus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing.
• Current Texas RN License.
• BCLS and ACLS certifications (PALS recommended).

Responsibilities

• The PSU Nurse has the responsibility to provide all nursing care services for the post-surgical patients in a manner suitable to accepted standards of care.
• Ensures high quality and safe delivery of patient care, in compliance with nursing standards and state/federal regulations.
• Cares for all ages from 2 years to geriatric, including care coordination and urgent response as needed.
• Responds to patients presenting with healthcare needs and participates in Medical Screening Exam as delegated.

Registered Nurse Charge Post Surgical Unit at Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington:

• The PSU Nurse has the responsibility to provide all nursing care services for the post-surgical patients in a manner suitable to accepted standards of care.
• He/She ensures the highest quality and safe delivery of patient care, maintains compliance with professional nursing, The Joint Commission, and all Federal and State standards of care.
• The RN cares for all ages from 2 years to geriatric.
• This position is assigned to respond to patients presenting to the facility with a healthcare need and providing the Medical Screening Exam as delegated by the Medical Executive Committee.

Required Skills:

• Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing
• Current Texas RN License
• Current BCLS, ACLS
• PALS recommended.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years clinical experience in an RN in hospital Medical/Surgery or ICU unit
• Strong ER experience preferred.
• Previous experience as a Charge strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Good organization habits
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit.
• Must have- 1-year Critical care, ED, or ICU nursing experience.
• Must have- 2 years orthopedic nursing experience.
• Must have- 1 year leadership experience (charge nurse, preceptor, committee chair).
