A leading healthcare provider is seeking an RN Clinical Charge Nurse to oversee unit operations and ensure high-quality patient care. This role involves directing nursing activities, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Candidates must have an accredited nursing degree and current RN licensure, with a focus on leadership and clinical expertise.
The RN Clinical Charge Nurse is responsible for directing and overseeing the daily activities of the unit during an assigned shift to ensure the safe and successful delivery of care. This role involves acting as a caregiver who may take on modified patient care assignments. The practice environment is managed by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by the WellStar Shared Governance Model, guided by the WellStar Professional Nursing Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the WellStar Core Competencies.
The RN Clinical Charge Nurse actively participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive high-quality, individualized, and safe care. Expectations include accountability, responsibility, authority in nursing practice, effective teamwork, delegation, communication, respect, personal development, and team development.
This role contributes to establishing and maintaining practices that promote excellence in patient care, efficient resource use, and leadership tasks such as staff scheduling, unit patient flow management, clinical expertise for concerns, physician rounding, committee involvement, survey readiness, and other duties assigned by the manager to ensure smooth department operations.
The Charge Nurse serves as a resource to other areas, offering insights into operational functionality and hospital awareness. They assist in the growth and development of team members, foster rapport between nurses and physicians, and serve as role models. All RN Clinical Charge Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the standards outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association's Code of Ethics. They are expected to advocate for the patient, adhere to system policies, and utilize their clinical expertise to deliver safe, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive care.
