Job summary

Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc. is seeking a School Nurse to provide direct nursing care in our school-based program in Philadelphia. You will administer medications, manage chronic conditions, and develop IHPs/ECPs while coordinating with families, educators, and healthcare providers.

Must hold an active RN license and CPR certification; CSN credential or willingness to obtain is preferred. Two years of school nursing experience and strong communication in English are expected.

• Minimum two years of school nursing experience preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English.
• Must meet federal, state, local, and contract requirements.
• Tech proficiency, including mobile documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to students, including chronic condition management.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per orders and school policy.
• Conduct health assessments, screenings, and evaluations.
• Develop and implement IHPs and ECPs.
• Participate in IEP/504 meetings as healthcare representative.
• Maintain accurate documentation per guidelines.
• Liaise between school, family, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
• Promote health education and wellness among students and staff.
• Respond to health emergencies and provide first aid/triage.
• Ensure compliance with immunization and disease control laws.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to students, including chronic condition management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders).
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per physician orders and school policy.
• Conduct health assessments, screenings, and evaluations.
• Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs).
• Participate in IEP/504 meetings as the healthcare representative.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with state, federal, and district guidelines.
• Serve as a liaison between the school, family, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
• Promote health education and wellness among students and staff.
• Respond to health-related emergencies and provide first aid/triage.
• Ensure compliance with immunization and communicable disease control laws/regulations.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Certified School Nurse (CSN) credential (or willingness to obtain, if applicable).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience as a school nurse preferred.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English.
• Must meet all federal, state, local, and contract requirements.
• Technological proficiency, including mobile devices for documentation.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
