Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Clinical Documentation Quality Improvement (CDQI) Specialist to elevate medical record documentation across inpatient cases. You will perform daily reviews, engage with physicians, and drive accuracy in documentation to support appropriate DRG-based reimbursements and coding clarity.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years CDI experience and 3+ years clinical work in an academic medical center, with an RN license (BSN) and CCDS or CDIP certification.

Qualifications

• 3+ years CDI experience.
• 3+ years clinical experience in an academic medical center.
• Registered Nurse license with BSN.
• CCDS or CDIP certification required.
• Must pass a CDI skills competency assessment.
• Must be able to accommodate a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily documentation reviews for inpatient records with missing or conflicting details.
• Collaborate with physicians to ensure appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity for DRG-based patients.
• Demonstrate understanding of severity of illness, comorbidities, and DRG impact.
• Educate physicians on documentation importance to improve coding specificity.
• Follow AHA guidelines and coding clinics for accurate coding and documentation.
• Query physicians for missing or unclear health record details.
• Maintain daily production logs of reviews, queries, and responses.
• Perform follow-up reviews to confirm clarifications are recorded.
• Ensure confidentiality of all files and records.
• Meet or exceed production and quality metrics.
