Job summary

CarolinaEast Health System is seeking a Cardiac Cath/EP Lab Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care during diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Responsibilities include prepping and recovering patients, administering moderate sedation, chart preparation, and continuous monitoring of vitals.

Must have a Nursing license in NC, BLS, ACLS within 90 days, and typically 2 years of Critical Care experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved School of Professional Nursing.
• Licensed by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Two years’ Critical Care/CCU experience preferred.
• BLS certification current; ACLS within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care in diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Cath/EP lab procedures.
• Prepping and recovering patients pre/post cath; maintain continuity of care.
• Assist with moderate sedation and monitor vital signs; respond to emergencies.
• Take emergency call with a 30-minute response time.

JOB SUMMARY: Performs the patient care aspect of diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Cath/EP lab procedures. Preps and recovers patient pre/post cath. Performs moderate sedation and records vital signs. Maintains continuity of care for patients while they are in the cardiac cath lab, prepares charts for procedures. Operates POC testing as required. The Cardiac Cath Registered Nurse must be able to maintain calm while being effective and accurate in critical situations, foster an environment of collaboration and respect, and maintain a positive approach to working in a fast paced environment. Must take emergency call with a 30 minute response time.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate from an approved School of Professional Nursing.
• Licensed by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and two (2) years’ experience as a Critical Care Nurse preferred.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• ACLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment and maintain current.
• As a condition of continued employment staff members must maintain current status at all times and not allow his/her certification/licensure/registry to expire or he or she will no longer be compliant with the requirement of the job description.
