Job summary

Birch Family Services in New York City seeks a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive medical care and case management across Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. You will assess needs, coordinate physician input, ensure tests and lab work are completed, and maintain 24-hour on-call coverage for emergencies.

The RN will develop nursing care plans, supervise staff, and work with the OPWDD framework to protect residents’ health, safety, and welfare while aligning with agency policies.

Qualifications

• BA in Nursing and NYS RN licensure.
• Experience in OPWDD or mental health is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

• The assessment, planning, implementation, and supervision of medical care for the individuals we support.
• Provide and supervise comprehensive nursing services and interventions; ensure continuity of medical care.
• Collaborate with physicians and monitor nursing services; follow up on medical needs.
• Develop a Nursing Care Plan for each individual and review as needed.
• Maintain 24-hour on-call capabilities for reporting status and interventions.
• Coordinate with Residence Manager to train med-certified staff per Birch and OPWDD guidelines.
• Conduct delegated nursing training for program staff and health/hygiene topics.
