Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland, OH, is seeking an experienced RN for the Cardiovascular Stepdown unit on the Main Campus. Qualifications

J61 and J63 are 24-bed cardiovascular telemetry units specializing in post–open heart, surgical, and ventricular assist device (VAD) patients. These fast-paced units provide a high-acuity environment where nurses develop advanced skills while caring for patients undergoing procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery, valve repair or replacement, and other complex cardiac interventions. The units also manage conditions including myocardial infarction, heart failure, arrhythmias, and device implantation or removal.


Nurses on J61 and J63 deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care through specialized teamwork and individualized education to support safe recovery and discharge. The units offer strong opportunities for professional growth, hands‑on experience with innovative treatments, and involvement in education and community outreach initiatives.

A caregiver in this position works rotating shifts| 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.


A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
