Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for providing patient care using the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members, ensuring quality patient outcomes, and demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability.

Education

Required: Registered Nurse diploma.

Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Work Experience

Required: None.

Certifications

Required: Current RN License in the state of practice; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area.

Job Duties

• Effectively uses the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care.
• Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other disciplines.
• Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, appropriate introduction, adapting explanations of services or procedures, obtaining permission, and adjusting communication style.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility. Physical and Environmental Demands

May require lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues is routine. Occupation may expose the employee to communicable diseases. Physical demands exceed those for sedentary work.
