Job Summary
The Registered Nurse on Unit is a key player in patient care management, following our nursing practice model. They work with other healthcare staff to deliver patient care effectively. Our Registered Nurses use the nursing process efficiently. They diagnose patient responses to health issues and create care plans accordingly, including evaluating healthcare needs and responses.
Essential Functions Of The Role
- Prioritize needs. Create, implement, and assess care plans to achieve outcomes. Adapt plans as necessary.
- Observe indicators closely, support evidence-based changes with research and hands-on learning.
- Create a caring, safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Build relationships with boundaries in mind. Focus on managing emotional and physical pain to promote healing and reduce suffering.
- Facilitate learning for all members of the healthcare team, including patients, families, and nursing staff, ensuring everyone is well-informed.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community to develop and execute an integrated plan of care.
- Use problem-solving strategies and available resources to support patients, families, and staff as part of a systems thinking approach.
Key Success Factors
- Familiarity with nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
- Awareness of legal requirements and standards of certification and accreditation bodies, including the hospital and respective department/unit specifics.
- Good command of medical terminology, with a focus on healthcare promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention.
- Effective communication skills and social aptitude for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are crucial.
- Ability to identify and report changes in patient conditions, develop, and modify patient care plans as required.
- Basic computer skills necessary for daily tasks.

Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited course or at least 2 years of relevant experience surpassing the minimal qualification required.
- Field of Study: Nursing.
- A minimum of 2 years in a relevant role is expected.
- Certification: Hold a BLS certificate now or obtain within 30 days of starting in this role.
- Registered Nurse License.
