Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, part of the Johns Hopkins Health System, seeks an Registered Nurse for the Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath labs in Columbia, MD. The role supports a 40-hour workweek, Day shift, in a 262-bed acute care facility with advanced cath lab procedures.

The nursing team collaborates with board-certified cardiologists and radiologic staff to provide high-quality patient care; leadership is provided by Nurse Manager Darlene Norton.

Qualifications

  • ADN required.
  • BSN preferred; must matriculate into BSN program if ADN holder.
  • RN license required (state of Maryland).
  • CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath labs.
  • Support the Nurse Manager and unit leadership.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Weprovide a variety of elective and emergency cardiac diagnostic and treatment procedures in state-of-the-art, computerized Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories (cath lab). Our cardiology team offers highly skilled care by board-certified Johns Hopkins cardiologists, specialty-trained nurses, and radiologic technologists committed to working cooperatively with patients and their families.

Darlene Nortonserves as the Nurse Manager, with a demonstrated track record of effective leadership. Darlene began her career at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a PCT prior to completing nursing school and then working as a nurse in the CCU. In a short span, she showcased her capabilities, earning promotions to Lead Clinical RN and Assistant Nurse Manager in 2019. Her journey continued when she later transferred to HCMC.

Darlene is not only a proficient leader but also a mentor who actively supports the professional growth of RNs. She oversees three vital units: The Intensive Care Unit, the Special Care Unit (IMCU) and Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath Nursing. Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) (Required),
  • Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) (Preferred) and
  • Applicants with an associate degree in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a Bachelor of Nursing program.
  • RN - Registered Nurse License (Required)
  • CPR - Basic CPR (Required)
  • Minimum six (6) months of nursing experience (Required)
  • 1 year of nursing experience (Preferred)
  • 1 year of Cardiac Cath, Interventional Radiology, or Critical Care/ICU experience (Preferred)
