Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN to provide expert burn care across all ages, coordinating comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Role requires ACLS within 1 year, PALS/ABLS preferred, and Louisiana RN licensure. Burn care experience and ECG interpretation knowledge are a plus. We offer professional development, PTO, and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Current Louisiana RN licensure required.
  • ACLS certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Experience in burn care, wound management, or critical care preferred (1 year RN experience).
  • ECG rhythm interpretation knowledge; American Burn Association membership preferred.
  • PALS, ABLS, and Critical Care Course preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide comprehensive patient care for burn patients; collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
  • Conduct systematic physical, psychosocial, functional, and nutritional assessments.
  • Formulate nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes based on data.
  • Develop and update individualized care plans with care team.
  • Deliver direct patient care and implement prescribed interventions.
  • Delegate tasks with oversight and accountability.
  • Evaluate patient responses and modify plans accordingly.
  • Provide patient/family education and coordinate discharge planning.
  • Deliver specialized care for pediatric to elderly burn patients; wound debridement support and dressing.
  • Direct unit operations during shifts; manage admissions, discharges, communications, and staff assignments.

What We're Looking For
  • Compassionate and collaborative team player with strong clinical judgment
  • Proficient in prioritizing care and performing comprehensive assessments across all age groups
  • Experience in burn care, wound management, or critical care preferred (1 year RN experience desired)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS), and Critical Care Course preferred
  • Current Louisiana RN licensure required
  • Knowledge of ECG rhythm interpretation; American Burn Association membership preferred

What You Will Do

Coordinate and provide comprehensive patient care for burn patients, ensuring assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation are completed in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

  • Implement prescribed interventions and deliver direct patient care
  • Delegate appropriate tasks while maintaining oversight and accountability
  • Evaluate patient responses to care and modify plans as necessary
  • Provide patient/family education and coordinate discharge planning
  • Deliver specialized care for pediatric to elderly patients with burn injuries, including debridement support, wound dressing, and procedural preparation
  • Direct unit operations during assigned shift, including admissions, discharges, communication, and staff assignments
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
