Job summary

Mercy seeks a registered nurse to deliver patient care within the Behavioral Health unit at Mercy Joplin. The role emphasizes accountability for direct care and coordination with other departments while upholding patient rights and confidentiality.

The unit supports 32 beds for adult psychiatry, with dedicated women’s, men’s, and medical care sides. You’ll work within Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards while advancing professional nursing practice.

Qualifications

  • Requires nursing degree from an accredited school.
  • Current RN license in state and/or compact licensure with nursing duties.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care using the nursing process.
  • Maintain professional accountability for the care of assigned patients.
  • Coordinate patient care with other departments and protect patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

Behavioral Health offers 32 beds within the Mercy Joplin main hospital. Our nurses are specially trained to care for the Adult Psych population. The unit offers a women’s side, a men’s side & medical care side.

Qualifications
  • Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
  • License: Current RN license in our state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
