Job summary

The Columbus Organization in Butner, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Day Shift at our Regional Developmental Center. You will provide high-quality care for adolescents and adults with complex behavioral health needs, including assessment, care coordination, and medication administration.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license in North Carolina (or eligibility).
• Degree in Nursing from an Accredited University.
• Working knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and patient care standards.
• Experience with medication administration and patient monitoring.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of patients upon admission and throughout their stay, including physical health, mental status, and risk factors.
• Medication Management: Administer psychiatric medications as prescribed by physicians and monitor patients for side effects, effectiveness, and adherence to treatment plans.
• Therapeutic Interventions: Implement therapeutic interventions, such as individual counseling, group therapy, and crisis intervention techniques.
• Care Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans and coordinate care across departments.
• Patient Education: Provide psychoeducation to patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Safety Management: Monitor for signs of self-harm or aggression and enforce safety protocols.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate medical records and incident reports per regulations.
• Crisis Intervention: Respond to psychiatric emergencies with established crisis management protocols.
