Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan repayment initiative. Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications Basic Requirements:
- English Language Proficiency
- In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), proficiency in basic written and spoken English is required for direct patient care roles.
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing recognized by ACEN or CCNE at the time of completion.
- OR completion of a master's level bridge program in nursing with coursework equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Nursing, allowing potential registration with a state licensing board prior to program completion.
- Upon obtaining a state license, appointment can be temporary with potential for permanent status after graduation.
- For foreign nursing graduates, current full, active, and unrestricted registration is required. Foreign degrees higher than an associate degree require formal equivalency validation from a recognized agency like ICD.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or D.C.
- Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception: eligible candidates without licensure may be appointed temporarily while pursuing licensure, with extensions possible.
- Preferred experience includes BSN or MSN with leadership or management background and at least 5 years in PACU/Critical Care.

Physical Requirements:
All applicants must be physically capable of performing the duties, with a pre-placement physical exam required.
Duties:
- Position located in Nursing Service at WRJ, full-time, 40 hours/week.
- Responsibilities include clinical oversight, patient care support, complex case assistance, compliance, staffing, quality improvement, staff development, communication, policy management, risk management, and administrative tasks.
- Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, with flexibility. Not eligible for telework or virtual work.
