Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Jersey City Medical Center seeks an Assistant Director (RN) for the Operating Room Center. The role leads clinical operations, drives compliance with CMS and AORN standards, and partners with the nurse educator to implement best practices in sterile technique and room efficiency.

Day shift, full-time role overseeing staffing and staff development while maintaining high patient safety and engagement.

Qualifications

• BSN required with RN licensure in NJ or compact licensure.
• Experience in operating room settings, including charge nurse roles.
• Minimum 8 hours/year of leadership-focused professional development.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient computer skills for electronic health records and staffing.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of policies, procedures and CMS/AORN standards.
• Support patient and staff engagement and collaborate with nurse educators.
• Ensure adherence to sterile techniques and optimize room efficiency.
• Participate in hiring and evaluating OR staff.
• Serve as clinical resource and role model on the unit.
