Job description

Falling Water Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for an RN Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team.

Purpose/Belief Statement:

The RN Assistant Director of Nursing monitors and provides personal nursing care and leadership to the nursing staff to ensure care standards are met and the highest quality resident care is provided. This role functions as a team member, leader, and supervisor to ensure work is accomplished and quality care is delivered, supporting team members and celebrating successes. The position assists the DON with planning, organizing, developing, and directing the Nursing Department's overall operation, managing resources, and supporting resource management.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Assess the needs of new residents and inform staff of new resident arrivals.
  2. Make daily visits to observe and evaluate residents' physical and emotional status, revising care plans as needed.
  3. Interact with medical staff, nursing staff, residents, families, and visitors regarding resident conditions.
  4. Ensure all resident care is provided respectfully and with dignity.
  5. Ensure nursing staff are knowledgeable of residents’ rights and responsibilities.
  6. Make daily rounds to evaluate unit functioning and address needs and concerns.
  7. Assist clinical managers with monitoring nursing documentation for completeness and appropriateness.
  8. Assist in emergency situations involving residents.
  9. Interact regularly with nursing staff, residents, families, and physicians.
  10. Participate in the nursing on-call rotation.
  11. Address resident and family concerns promptly.
  12. Function as an RN Charge Nurse if needed.
  13. Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
  14. Supervise and participate in developing and maintaining various programs in the center.
  15. Manage resident documentation, records, and charts accurately.
  16. Adhere to departmental, center, and home office policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  17. Participate in scheduled training, educational classes, and orientation to maintain licensure and enhance care quality.
  18. Provide leadership and foster loyalty to the organization by leading by example.
  19. Perform other related activities as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Current RN license in Ohio.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited institution or graduate of an approved RN program.
  • Minimum of 5 years RN supervisory experience, preferably in long-term care.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, standards, laws, and regulations pertinent to long-term care.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Tactful communication skills with staff, residents, families, and external agencies.
  • Leadership, teaching, and supervisory abilities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement care programs and policies.
  • Willingness to adopt new methods and integrate them into existing practices.
